Review: All Tea Towels

Last week Al of All Tea Towels contacted me offering two of his very lovely (you guessed it!) tea towels in return for a short review on my blog. Did I accept? Of course I bloody did. They're lovely!

My flatmate and I don't own much kitchen stuff. We've got the essentials (and by that I mean three rusty pots that we fear are killing us, a load mismatched cups, mugs, plates and bowls, pint glasses borrowed from various pubs around north London, a handful of cutlery, one "good knife" and a recently acquired SWISS ARMY KNIFE) (which is bloody brilliant because its "features" include it being a bottle opener, scissors, corkscrew, nail file, screwdriver, eyelet needle, bradawl, 2 saws, can opener and knife) but we don't really have anything nice. At least, not until now...

Enter these babies. It wasn't easy to pick just two, but I got there. There's such a great selection and for a while I really couldn't decide between Tunnocks Teacakes, William Morris and Team GB (I'd already settled on It's A Beautiful Day - easy) As you can see, Team GB won in the end (You go, Team GB!), but only by a little. It's just a bit more special, you know? Nice to have a tea-towel with a bit of Olympic spirit (though I kind of don't want to ruin it)... sort of shows the other tea-towels up though.

Both tea-towels are are 100% cotton, made in England, and fully machine washable I haven't used them too much just yet, but so far they're doing great - they don't leave any lint, the colours are remaining strong and they're pretty tough, too. Not gonna lie though, I mainly like them coz they're pretty.

If you fancy your own, click here. It's free postage if you live in the UK too.

P.S. HOW AMAZING WAS THE OLYMPIC CEREMONY? I absolutely loved it! Got to see some of it again at a special hi-vision screening at the BBC today (ooh!) - watching the Queen jump out of the helicopter in super hi-vision was brilliant.

P.P.S. MOZ WAS AMAZING IN MANC.

Song of the Week (haven't done one of these in a while): Under The Westway - Blur

Hey! Blur's new song - what do you think? They first debuted it a couple of weeks ago on Twitter with their other new single "The Puritan" and I think it's just beautiful. Really lovely. Wish they'd stop teasing us and do a bloody album already. I saw them with my sister when they reformed and played Hyde Park three summers ago and it was honestly one of the best gigs I've ever been to (the only rivals being Moz last year and The Killers in 2006) COME ON, BOYS!

If you follow me on Twitter then you probably saw a few of my tweets/pictures about visiting Facebook's London HQ yesterday (before you ask, yes, I did tag myself in at Facebook on Facebook) I was there for a discussion on digital storytelling and they had some great people come and talk with us, including the online editors of NME, Top Gear and Digital Spy! I'll do a post about it soon. Still have to do one on my Bauer Media visit first, though. Geeeeee, I've got to try and write more.

I bought a nice Moleskine diary a couple of weeks ago and I still haven't written in that yet. Partly because I've not really had the time and partly because I know I'll ruin the lovely thing as soon as I start. Do any of you lot keep a "real" diary? HOW THE FUCK DO YOU WRITE IN IT?

P.S. Happy Bastille day, French friends. x

National Theatre Live: Frankenstein

FINALLY got some time to post about Frankenstein; been meaning to do this ever since I saw it!

Now I'm no avid theatre goer or anything, but I know what's good* and Danny Boyle's theatre production of Frankenstein is absolutely brilliant. I didn't manage to see it last on stage last year (and consequently kicked myself hard for it), but I managed to nab a couple of tickets to a cinema screening of it at the lovely Everyman in Hampstead a couple of weeks ago and it was really, really good.

We got Benedict Cumberbatch as Victor and Jonny Lee Miller as the Creature (they alternated characters each night; still gotta see them reversed!) and both performances were stunning. Honestly, the whole thing just smashed expectations. It was smart, funny, moving, wonderfully acted, beautifully directed and now I've seen it on the big screen I'm even more gutted I never managed to see it for real.

Anyway, I don't want to spoil anything but it was wonderful. Absolutely deserves all the many awards it's bagged and you should go see it yourself if you can! Listings are here.

NOT ANOTHER INSTAGRAM POST!!!

L-R: Big Ben, big face, Scream ain't so bad, finally saw the National Theatre's Frankenstein! (I'll do a separate post on that soon), pink shirt leather skirt, London Eye, Rufus Hound somehow found my blog!, Ring of Fire...

Hi! Sorry for the absence, I've been pretty busy these past couple of weeks.

It's really frustrating, for once I've actually got some fairly interesting things to blog about and I just never have the bloody time to do it! I PROMISE I will soon though. Finally managed to see the National Theatre's Frankenstein last week and I'm attending an "A Day in the Life of Marketing" with Bauer Media Group on Wednesday so it's not like I'm at a loss of things to share.

SOON! xxx
